WH40K: Sister of Battle & Genestealer

A chaste and pure Sister of Battle faces off against a vile xeno Tyranid Genestealer. By allowing it to breed the ever-loving shit out of her. Just like a sex-starved space nun should! Figured I'd give a second shot at the single worst selling set I've ever created (Sister & Daemonette). Was never quite sure if it was the content of the set, that fact that it wasn't particularly my best work, or just the fact that nobody gives a shit about 40K that made it not do so well. Guess we'll see with this set. Anyway it's 53 pics of purging heresy in the name of the Emperor at mongo-bongo-art.com.

Phew! So yeah, this set took a bit longer than I anticipated. SanctumArts Shrieker (no longer available AFAIK) is not exactly the most friendly model to pose. Tons of weirdly placed bones, bones that literally say "no use", and just oddly set up joint zones made things a bit of a bitch to work with. But got it done. Coincidentally a few other pieces of 40K news apparently popped up while I was working on the set. A Genestealer Cults Codex was released (lol that was timely!) for whatever the hell edition the tabletop game is in. And not to be an ass, but every single person I checked out on YouTube that does the tabletop game thing was kinda... well... weird. Just looked weird, acted weird, or talked weird. Is that common? Or are they just the freakish outliers? (Note - they are completely unlike the creators of semi-consensual hentaiesque 3d porn who are fine, upstanding, and well adjusted people. *cough*)

And there are a couple of 40K video games that were/are being released. Apparently Eternal Crusade released to thundering disappointment. Turns out that all the folks that forked out $60 to pre-order the WH40K MMO they were "promised" instead got a shoot-em-up battle arena. LOL. What a shocker, getting fucked by pre-ordering. Why do people still do that? And then the other one is Dawn of War III is being worked on. Which kinda piqued my interest cuz DoW2: Soulstorm is where I fell in love with my sexy space-nun bolter bitches. But... looks like DoW3 is pretty much just the same exact thing as DoW2. It's like, what's the point? Same fucking game. Haven't seen any new ideas proposed in it so far. And probably won't have Adepta Sororitas in it anyway until the umpteenth patch. So bleh. I still keep imaging what would have happened if Games Workshop weren't so fucking terrible at licensing their IP and Starcraft were actually the 40K game it was originally supposed to be. Anyway, here's some test pics I had been working on for the Sister.

SWTOR: Sniper & Sith

If you've ever played SWTOR then you are probably already familiar with this set. It's what happens when Snipers try to PvP against a Jugg/Guardian (or well any other class tbh). It's 36 pics of epic Star Warzy goodness at www.mongo-bongo-art.com.

Btw, was playing a bit of SWTOR a couple months ago to get some ideas for this set. Remember when I said that SWTOR was a horrible game and not worht playing ever (or something like that). Well I was wrong, it got better. Actually worth subbing for a month or two and playing. It's still a themepark MMO so once you've hit all the rides, you're pretty much done. Not alot of replayability after that. But the game is pretty fun until you reach that point. So if you bailed on it before (like I did) think about giving it another shot.

Oh and fixed the Zen Halloween set links for those that are still members. Why you would be a member I don't know. Seriously not worth it.



But what you are probably more interested in is "y no updates 4 so long?!". Well mostly it's cuz I don't give a fuck anymore. In fact this is probably the last update for a good long while. It's what happens when I get screwed by my payment provider for a good amount of money - like the amount that some of you make in 6 months. Imagine that, you work at your job for half a year and then don't get paid for it. Awesome! Amirite? 'Course I could just get a different payment provider. Hell I could just get a merchant account (like Epoch advised in a comment *fistbump*). Either one is super easy to do. Problem is I'd have to wipe my site due to content. No tentacles, no beastiness, no alcohol, no non-con. And what's the fun in that? There is a reason that Affect3D, Rotica, and other places don't carry stuff like I do. Not cuz they have some high and mighty moral objection to it. It's cuz they work with reputable payment processors, y'know the kind that DON'T fuck you over. So I could switch to doing vanilla pr0n, but bleh. There's already a million people doing that.

So yeah not really happy about all that. And then tack on to that the piracy bullshit. When I was giving away free downloads to members, this shit would be up on sites within an hour. Which was bad enough when it was just happening to me. But when other artists (Zen, Hibbli, Zafo, Vaesark) are getting ripped from my site it's just.... yeah. Fuck that. In fact, fuck all y'all. Well not all of you. Really it's just a small segment. So fuck them. They are the reason we can't have nice things. And if you are the type that doesn't support the artist and leeches off pirates... well you're kinda the problem too. Sorry, truth hurts. (Mind you piracy does provide an advertising benefit to some extent. However the current state of it is so far beyond that level that it is causing far more harm to artists than any benefit they could possibly get.)

So what it comes down to is... I'm pretty much done. Updates will be few and far between. This shit ain't fun no more. That's all folks!

Well no, it's probably not. Cuz pr0n is like crack - it's not something you just walk away from. And I had a choice, I could either whine like a bitch about my situation, or I could do something about it. But fuck binary choices. I'm gonna do both! I'll be a whiny bitch AND do something about it! And that something is games. Everyone is doing pic sets. Very few are doing games - and those that are, are mostly RPGMaker. I'm thinking like full 3d games. And that's where the Unity game engine comes in.

It ain't easy, but it ain't exactly hard either. And little known fact, I actually used to be a halfway decent C++ coder. C# isn't that much different. Plus, picked up the upgrade to Poser GameDev which makes import/export formats and polygon reduction a hell of alot easier. So I got that going for me. But still alot of other stuff to put together - voice sets, music, level making, etc. And then of course pr0n renders to splice in (cuz everything is better with pr0n!). Not a small amount of work for one person. Which is why you're not gonna see alot of me. Gonna be busy!

Snack Time!

So since the next set is being a complete pain in the ass with lighting and render times, figured I'd give you some snacks to tide you over. Just some random character concepts and set ideas I've been playing around with. Some recent, some from awhile ago. Obviously the Wildstar stuff is recent. Duh.

And since I've been dicking around with the Wildstar Beta weekends, figured I should probably give you my first impressions of it. The theme is magical space cowboys vs. galactic church nazis with some pirates and ninjas thrown in. Yeah it's very tongue-in-cheek and silly. As far as the game system itself, well.... basically it's a WoW clone with a nifty targeting system. To me, any themepark game is pretty much a WoW clone. It's got the standard leveling system and level cap. Standard structured classes. Standard questing and experience system. Standard level-specific resources & crafting system. And other than the targeting, standard combat system. So yeah. For me it was a bit of a let down. Don't get me wrong, it's still fun, silly, entertaining, and definitely playable. I'll definitely be spending some time playing it. I was just kinda hoping for something on the level of EvE (without the douchebaggery). It's nowhere near that level of complexity or detail. But if you liked WoW, then you will like Wildstar. Cuz it's definitely a step up in most regards (gotta give the nod to WoW's depth of lore and story though - but it has been around ALOT longer). Keep in mind though, my Wildstar experience is only up to lvl 17 and is fairly limited. This is only a first impression. Probably a hell of alot more I haven't seen yet.

And in other news.... Well... there's not alot of other news. I'm busy working on another Shadowrun Returns set with it's myriad Transmap + Reflection/Refraction + AO issues (yes, IDL would avoid alot of those problems and is a vastly superior lighting method - thankyou for reminding me). but because of said issues I have to dupe render some pics and patch them together in Photoshop. Ideally the set was supposed to correspond with the release of Shadowrun Returns: Dragonfall, but they let their delivery date slip to the end of Feb to polish out some bugs. Which is definitely better than shipping a buggy expansion "on-time" (I'm looking at you EvE-Online). In any case, still burning away on the next set.

So finally got around to finishing this one. Been taking it easy for the past week or so. It's my version of a holiday vacation since I was busting my ass last month. Relaxation is nice for a change. In any case, was playing around with some new stuff in this set. Of particular note is my first use of Indirect Lighting for an image - it's the opening pic. Still not sure how I feel about it. It does make things alot easier by not having to place lights and just letting the ambient nodes handle stuff, which is super cool. Downside is that it can produce some blotchiness unless I want to deal with massively long render times (which I don't). So still pondering the further use of it.

Not much else going on at the moment.
