Wharz mai Set, yo?

So my fabulous building managers at my studio decided to fuck up my internet connection since last Thurs. Thus, haven't been able to get much done lately. Never realized how much having music and being able to do quick research made a difference. Needz mai Pandora. Hopefully will be back up tomorrow. Needless to say, not happy.

Also makes me rethink my opinions on the whole Cloud concept. Kinda pointless if you can't access it. Whereas if you actually had the program/files on your computer, it wouldn't be that much of a problem. Take for example what Adobe is doing with Photoshop etc. Their new concept is to make their programs only accessible via the internet - so you never actually own the program, you just rent access to it. Like $50/month. But if you don't have internet for whatever reason (say for example that your building managers are fucktards), then it's just wasted money.

In a way you kind of drive home my point that while I am rabid MAC user I am one of those folks who thinks Steven Jobs was more asshole than golden boy.

While my reasons for this are many one of the main ones is his instance that everyone should get onboard of his dream of us all living happily "in the cloud'.

One of the things that really gets me is if you will remember Jobs was one go the guys who threw his support behind BluRay and helped kill off the HD disc format.

THEN he decided that basically CD/DVD/BluRay technology was pretty much dead and to this day you still can't play a Bluray on a Mac without third party support.

Yeah the cloud is nice but it doesn't do you a whole lot of good trying to download from Netflicks if some storm has just wiped out most of the cell towers and land lines in your area.

Worst part about Photoshop is you can't find any of the older versions anymore! Since CS6 came out, I've been looking 5 but it is just nowhere. found it once on New Egg but went out of stockin the time it took me to sign in...

oh well, pixlr will have to do, and that requires internet too.

That is why a lot of photographers like myself are not going to upgrade to the new version of PS. If/when the old version no longer recognizes my file formats, I will simply use another photo editor. Adobe is shooting their own foot off with this subscription nonsense.

Surely you could just spend your time rendering Wolves and Tifa hair. We all know how you love that MB

: )

Can only imagine how annoying it is. I lost internet for two days and frankly I was rocking back and forth in a chair with withdrawal. It's amazing the shit you actually don't realise you do without thinking about it with the internet. The 'Cloud' plan is pants. The infrastructure just isn't there yet to support it. Until the telecoms giants actually get incentivised to build it, Photoshop online and such are just daft pie in the sky ideas...

How's this Cloud shit work after you get hit by a hurricane or the recent tornado we just had here - thousands of people, sometimes good parts of a whole state or two, without connectivity; not too fucking well

Look buddy I'm sorry bout your problems but many of the galleries that influenced me to pay for a subscription (nearly 8 months now), have gone missing. Them missing Combined with the lack of updates is making me question the point of a membership..

Oh hey, look! An anonymous post complete with unverifiable claims and vague threats. Imagine how well I'm going to respond to that. If you really wanna persist in such behaviour, why don't you do us both a favor and just cancel your membership? I don't really need or want customers like you, "buddy".
