Zerginess?

Wow, okay next set is coming along waaayyyy faster than expected. Scenery is done for the most part. I've never actually played Starcraft. Not a huge fan of RTS games tbh. The AI's always cheat when playing against the computer, and it just comes down to cookie-cutter build strategy and cheeziness when doing PvP. So no idea of how Zerg interiors are supposed to look. But since they are pretty much a direct ripoff of Tyranids from WH40K, kinda figured it would look something like them.

So which of the three is looking most "zergy"? I'm leaning towards the third pic just cuz the colors seem to work best.

I really hoped you would make some Marine-Nova action.

The last one! definitively the last one.

And you really should try Starcraft2, The story is great ;-)

Looks fucking awesome. I would say the third image.

Suggestion: maybe drop some directional light from an off-camera source.

last one for sure!

I'm suprised that you got the scene pretty close without Starcraft background. Looking good :) No.3 all the way.

Mongo, since you don't like RTS - Just check out the story here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPv4DM7TUjU

As for Nova, here's the most recent clip with her in... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YwEI-ekDIk&feature=relmfu and yes she is bad-ass :)

Whooo! 40K fan!!! And number three. When stuff starts dying in SC 1, it's got blood flowing everywhere. Even buildings @.@

I actually like the high contrast in the first pic. Happy to hear you're a fan of the tyrannids bro :)

looks too unzergily imho

you should try the game, even if you hate RTS, there are 3 difficult levels for the story mode, and I bet the AI is cheating itself to let you win. 3rd image is closest, but still far away from real zerginess.

@Ethakar - Yeah I know. I came to the same conclusion after a bit of research and watching the storyline vids that Anon linked. Promptly became rather depressed at the utter lack of zerginess and restarted from square-one. The results were.... underwhelming to say the least. After much hair pulling, raging, and general sadness I've accepted the fact that I cannot achieve proper zerginess without making custom models. And that ain't gonna happen. So I've just had to concede that my "starcraft" set is not gonna look very Starcrafty. Sucks but thats how it's gonna be. Can't hit a homerun everytime I guess. Still not happy about it though. :-(

Its hard not to go mad when things don't go your way. Yes I'm pretty sure people have major expectations due to how darn right popular Nova is. But as you said once you're doing this cause you enjoy it. So screw the pressure and just do what you enjoy doing. Even if it doesn't look Starcrafty I', pretty sure its gonna be good :)
